Take
our early morning flight to La Romana and enjoy the whole day in the
south of the island. Walk through the magnificent grounds of the
recreated 16th-century Mediterranean village; see the amphitheatre where
famous artists such as Julio Iglesias have performed; then board the
speed boats which take you from the fishing village of Bayahibe to the
paradise island of Saona where you will eat, drink and sunbathe. Swim in
a natural swimming pool and if you are lucky spot a starfish or two on
your return journey.

Samaná - Cayo Levantado
(Bounty Island)
The Bounty Hunters
came in search of Paradise, and found it on Cayo Levantado. This jewel of a
tiny island lies just off the Samaná Peninsula and is our destination for a
day of pure escapism. The sand is white and powdery, the turquoise waters
are crystal clear and perfect for snorkelling or gentle swimming. A
sumptuous Dominican lunch of fresh fish cooked in Coconut sauce (meat option
also available) washed down with a Coco Loco cocktail is worth the journey
alone! A fantastic day-out, not to be missed!

Playa Grande & Laguna Gri Gri
You
will enjoy the motor launch ride through the mangroves and the crystal-clear
waters of the Gri-Gri Lagoon, noted for its rich bird life. A buffet lunch
(included) is served at a typical village restaurant and a chance to wander
through the adjacent small plantation to see and taste the great variety of
tropical fruits that grow here. We continue the short drive to the beach of
Playa Grande (Big Beach), a long, long stretch of soft pale sand lapped by
turquoise waters. This is the perfect spot for stretching out and topping
up the suntan or maybe some body surfing if the waves are up.

Dominican
Alps
Experience a completely
different side of the island with a visit to the Dominican Alps. A day
of spectacular mountain scenery, green valleys, clear streams and tumbling
waterfalls. Begin with a drive to Santiago, where we visit a renowned cigar
factory before continuing the drive to Jarabacoa. The highlights of the day
are having the time to explore this lovely mountain retreat and taking a
ride on a 4-wheel-drive jeep to the towering Jimenoa waterfall with the
chance for a cooling dip in the large plunge pool. Snatch a bargain at
the ceramic factory. A tasty Dominican buffet lunch (included) is served at
the ranch. (This tour includes approx. 20 minutes of walking over uneven
ground including 2 wooden bridges; suitable footwear/moderate fitness

This guided tour of Puerto
Plata will take you around the colonial city which is well known for its
Victorian architecture. Puerto Plata was founded in 1502 by Christopher
Columbus and is a city just waiting for you to discover it. With a visit
to the Amber Gallery, the Brugal Rum distillery and the San Felipe fortress
you will learn about the history of this oldest city on the north coast. After
sightseeing in Puerto Plata you then head off to the town of Sosua, where
here you can either try your hand at haggling at one of the many beach side
market stalls. Or if you want you can relax on one of the most beautiful
beaches on the north coast, with its golden sand and clear waters. A day out
to get yourself orientated with the local area.

Whalewatching in Samaná Bay - (mid-January to
mid-March only) Early morning departure from the hotel for a day full of
adventure in Samana. A unique opportunity to observe humpback whales in
their natural calving and mating grounds. Listen to the male humpbacks
solitary courting song and witness incredible displays of flippering, tail
bobbing and breaching by the most active species of great whale in the
Atlantic. On board every trip, a marine mammal specialist narrating and
answering questions. An experience of a lifetime, not to be missed. After
the whale watching our destination is Cayo Levantado, sometimes called the
Bounty Island, a tiny island just off the Samana Peninsula. The sand is
white and powdery; the turquoise waters are crystal clear and perfect for
gentle swimming. A COCOTOURS lunch is prepared on the island with a glass of
white wine served at tables set up in the open air (included) for you to
take full advantage of the sun and the sea. Please bring towel, bathing
suit, extra warm clothes, and plastic cover for cameras. There will be
